I mentioned in one of my post about meeting some widows in a focus group and how wonderful it was to talk to them in person.  It was like posting on this web site, only in person.  Carol replyed back to me and she thought it would be nice to meet in a "nice place - middle , kind of like Middle Earth from the Lord of the Rings."  She suggested we start a discussion about it.

Are there others who would like to try and plan on a place to meet like that widow group that meets in CA?  I know we are all from all over the world, but like Carol said, if you want it bad enough we can do it.

I don't know exactly how to go about to try and plan an event like this, but if others want to, we could put all our ideas together, maybe there is someone who is good at planning things that could guide us.

This was just an idea, maybe it is to far fetched an idea, but it is nice to think about it anyway.

I am in Michigan - would consider this - Chicago or Indianapolis?

I'm in Connecticut, it sounds like a good idea.  A big group hug to everyone.
Marrie, sounds like you have what it takes to get the job done.We are in Indiana now till christmas then in new jersey. Big Hugs to all
I live in Northern Michigan near Lake Michigan. It sounds like a great adventure.
I feel like we are all friends so why not meet. I also like the idea of a group hug! I would be willing to go any where, but Las vegas or Chicago would be my first choice.
Marrie,We are in Syracuse in northern Indiana,I think there are a few from the Michigan area,Vegas sounds good to we could see our in-laws while there we were planning on driving there in oct. but not sure now as we are aquiring a dog and cat because his grand daughter is allergic to them now.
Marrie,  thank you so much for responding to this discussion.  I think it is a good idea, but as I said I have never done any big coordination.  It would be great if that is what you do for you to get some ideas out there so everyone could respond as to whether they could meet or not.  I live as I said earlier in NC and am willing to meet anywhere as I also own my own business and can reschedule my days when I need to.  Thanks a lot Marrie.  Look forward to seeing what you come up with.  HUGS,  Linda
I was ask this week how was the "group hug" was going.  I apoligize since I started the post for not posting anything but I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary since losing Neal and have been having some bad days.  I looked back over the post and it looks like people are from all over, so I think it would just be a matter of picking a date and place.  I would love Las Vegas even though I live in NC.  I have heard Las Vegas is a cheap vacation, in that rooms are not too expensive.  Also there would be plenty to do for everyone.  What do you all think of this and does anyone have any suggestions as to when would be a good time to meet for that group hug?

I can't even get out of my apt. without help, going on five weeks but I sure would love to join in if I could. I am in Houston, Tx.

I will be in Houston for a wedding in late October. May I contact you?

Just had my one year and it was a very difficult day. Vegas is no longer cheap if you want comfortable accommodations (unless we want to stay at the Hooters Hotel and Casino). I would think somewhere md-west that is like a conference center.
