I still struggle with missing Doug and trying to heal from my accident. I don't get out by myself yet but do work on keeping my head up. Thanks for being here. Keep your heads up too. HUGS.

You sound as though you are a positive person who can heal well.  I lost my husband Sept. 10th and I am rather lost without him here to care for.  He was sick for 3 years on dialysis and the last year I had to do everything for him at home, including dialysis.  I hope you find strength and comfort in the coming days.
Ruth, I certainly identify with you.  George died on September 5th after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer.  We were together constantly and now I feel at loose ends without my reason for living.  I'm also learning that I lost contact with friends because I was so busy with George and now I feel like I must start all over again.  This grief stuff certainly isn't for wimps!  Just when I think I have things figured out, I get thrown a new curve.  And trying to take care of little things can be overwhelming.  I ended up in tears yesterday because I couldn't figure out how to use some new "fancy" gas can George had bought.  I was mad at myself because I couldn't figure it out and mad at him for buying the darned thing.  I know we'll get through this because I see evidence all around me that people do live through it.  It's just sometimes I don't know how I will.  I miss him so much.

Hi Ellen,

With all you have been through, you always have the most positive comments to leave for the rest of us.  You are the toughest cookie I know.  Thanks for always giving a shout out to all of us to help us stay positive and keep us focused on what's important.  Even though the days are difficult, we must keep our heads up and move forward even if only one step at a time.  It doesn't mean that we don't hurt and won't struggle everyday, but the world keeps moving forward and we just have to find a way to keep up.

Thank you...you are always an inspiration to me!!

I don't know how you do it, but Doug had to be one very special man because you are awesome! Praying for you and wishing you health & happiness each & every day.

Hugs,

Christy

Ruth, thanks for your note. I feel your pain and am so sorry you are having to deal with this horrid life changing we all here are. After losing my husband I was run over by an SUV three months later and life stopped again for me. I am now permanently handicapped among lots more and miss Doug more than words can describe. I have no family so if I don't stay positive to keep Doug alive within me or I truly won't have anything. I reach out and like to give away what I receive and that is to stay in the moment and know you are not alone. HUGS. Ellen

Christy, Thank you for your kind note. You brought tears to my eyes because, yes Doug was a very special man and funny is he to used to tell me how special I was. I thought he was bluffing. HEHE. I was always a positive person and so was Doug and I know he is watching me telling me to continue and help others. I am hoping one day to cry less and laugh more too. :)HUGS, Ellen

Marlena, Thank you so much for the special note too. Hearing from others lifts my spirits too. I don't know about being a tough cookie, but I am a persistent cookie crumb...if there is such a thing. :) I believe in staying positive and things will take that route. Life is not easy. Losing Doug was the most difficult feat I was challenged with and the SUV running over me came in second, plus lots of bumps and trips along the journey. If I mope in those I will never be able to keep the memories of Doug and I alive. If I share positively I hope others will seek that attitude too that the sun will always shine again after every storm. My new theme song lately is "Keep Your Head Up" by Andy Grammer. If says it all. I will post it in case you care to listen to it. You too are an inspiration, you wrote to me. Hugs. Ellen
