This might be a rough time for many of you. Do what you feel you need to do to get through it. Remember, someone is here almost all the time to talk to you.

Today I am going to my Mom and Dads to help Mom transplant seedlings in her greenhouse. New life and hope. Mom and Dad have been my rock. I am so grateful to them. Dad is 80 and Mom is 77, but look and act at least 20 years younger. When Larry passed away, Mom just took over our house and looked after us, now Dad is making plans and recruiting help for some projects that need to be done at the lodge. They are the only ones besides our sons that want to talk about Larry. I can never thank them enough and you know...they don't expect to be thanked, it's just how they are.

I hate the word "widow" too!! I often think it's because I am only 41, and I NEVER thought I would be dealing with so much at my age as well as our daughters who are only 16,13, and 11..I just wish our life could go back to the way it was 8 months ago.

I understand Tom. It is something that none of us have ever wanted. I hate the term "widow". I don't know is just a word. I guess it is because I never wanted to be one and truthfully had never given much thought to. There I was blindly thinking we would always be together. I guess I never expected to lose him so soon. Larry was only 57. Some days I feel so cheated, then chastise myself for being so selfish. We were married for 38 wonderful years and I should be grateful for that. I want more!!!!!!!! I am so lonely and feel lost without him. I am very capable of carrying on by myself but some days it is very hard. I am so grateful for everyone on this site, here we can vent, cry and feel safe because everyone understands.
Take care Yvonne

Comment by Janice Kelly on April 12, 2010 at 7:56am name is Jan and I lost my husband of 46 years on this past Valentine's Day. I just found this site, and am looking for help anywhere I can find it. This seemed like a good place to start since every one of you know what I am going through. I'm not even sure if this is where I am supposed to introduce myself. If it isn't, then I apologize, and maybe someone could direct me to the right spot. (I'm not real good with the computer.)

Dear Sheila, I'm so sorry for your loss. I lost my husband of 32 yrs in dec to cancer. He was the love of my life and we had a great marriage. we have two sons one lives with me. The other comes to visit and gets upset when I cry I think he thinks I should be done with that now..unless you have been thru it you have no idea. As far as your family just hang in there can u tell your sisters its too much for you now. You need to take care of you now. Its hard but you can do it. Keep your chin up. Better days are least that's what they tell me!!!!! Jan
