Caregiving for Caregivers

Who is there for us? When we are up 2,3, or more times with a family member during the night and all day too. We have to learn how to take care of ourselves in order to take care of others. We need to support eachother everyday, everynight.

Joyce, how unselfish of you, but thats what caregivers do, please remember to take care of yourself first or at least, the same time or you will not be able to care of mom. I know you already know this, just saying. talk again soon.

Taking care of mom, i was up all day and all night. She was sick and seemed to have no concept of time,i didnt eat much and forgot about taking care of my own self in the whole process, as i am very sick with a rare bladder disease. She was worth it all!

Carlo, your prayers for your mom are heard no matter where you are. My prayers are with you as you deal with this very trying time.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. They worked!  Sis and I have talked about our issues, and happily, we are enjoying one another's company---just like old times. Last week we saw an MD Anderson social worker, and I joined a caregivers support group. Although I'm still homesick, I no longer feel trapped in Houston. Now I'm grateful that I can be here for my sister and enjoy each day we have together. Along with love, decluttering and cleaning can work miracles :-)

Hi everyone, its sunday January 9th and I planned to go to church this morning to pray for my dearly departed mom but my recent gallbladder surgery is keeping me close to the house, the nauseousness is still hanging around at the worst times when I have important things to do. I hope you all are ok and get a hold of me if you need to talk. You can also find me on facebook in my page, Caregiving for Caregivers, You Just Do It. I am easy to find. Have a good week and stay strong.
