Hello eveyone.  My name is Travis.  I recently lost my father to cancer a few months ago.  Its been very hard to think about the future because my father was such a big part of my life.  He was ourt rock.  He was a very strong person.  He had gone throguh a tramatic experience himself.  Losign his wife, our mother, to a car accident.  My sister was nine and I was seven.  He got us through it though.  It still hurts today.

I am at a crossroads in my life.   Just turning 30 a moth after my father passed away.  Its a very hard to think about not having a parent for the rest of my life.  Not sending my kids on vacations with their grandparents like I used to do.

I would say, I feel lost now.  I try not to think about the future because its not appealing right now.  I had planned so much of my future around my father.

Thanks for listening.  Would love to hear your comments or your stories.

Hi Travis,

My name is Lori Sherry. I'm so sorry about your father and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I lost my dad in 2010 to a heart attack. It's been so hard to think of the future without him because he was such a big part of my life. He was our rock. He was a very strong person at times.

He had gone through traumatic times. He lost his job and my mom had cancer so, he had to be there for her. I was sick and he had to be there for me. My brother was also sick and he had to deal with that also.

He got us through.

It still hurts though.

I am having a real hard time right now. I am 35-years-old now. It's been really hard not having a parent for the rest of my life then, thinking of my mom at the same time.

I feel lost right now but, my dad would want me to go on which I'm doing.

Hi Lori,

Its nice to get to talk with someone who is going through the same type of situation.  A lot of my friends haven't gone through something like this.  So they cannot be as much comfort as they would like to be.

I understand  it being tough when you start thinking about not having a parent for the rest of  my life.  I think about it all the time when I go to functions with friends and their parents are there.  It just hurts a little each time I see that and I start thinking about my parents.

I think it gets better.   Having lost a parent when I was a child.  It took years fro me to get over the fact that she was gone.  It will get better.  You just can't keep it inside.  That why i'm here.  So thank you for your reply.

Hi Travis, I lost my Mom 2/10. Less than 2 mos. later I lost my only child, just turned 30 yr old Candace. Her and her husband were raising their 3 little girls, all under 10 yrs old. I believe in a higher power. I think He saved my daughter from something more painful in this world. My Mom was ready to go Home and be with her family that had already departed. She was suffering from throat Cancer. I'm so sorry about your mother and father. I live one day at a time. I try to be kind and helpful to others. I know on my lift-off date Candace and others will come to escort me to my new Home on the other side. Candace's spirit came to me the day b/4 her funeral. Her Spirit was standing behind me and rubbed my arms up and down twice! 10 months later on Valentine's Day, she poked me on my shoulder. Her spirit was behind me once again! I've heard Medium John Edwards talk about above and below but never behind. I KNOW her Spirit lives and there IS a God! I rented a rom from my girlfriend's step-dad after he lost his wife to brain Cancer. He told me when he passed he would send me a sign to let me know there IS another entity. And he DID! We took the batteries out of the smoke alarm because it would go off every time he cooked. Two days after he passed, the smoke alarm woke me up in the middle of the night. It freaked me out but I KNEW it was Ward letting me know that all is well!!! Please believe in a higher power, only our bodies die, our spirits  exist in another dimension I think.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my dad three years ago, and my mom seven weeks ago. I am finishing college - difficult as it is, because they were both so proud, and wanted me to finish.  I think of the future, but I think of mom and dad looking down on me, and smiling. It's hard, but it will come.

Travis- I'm am so sorry about your loss. I feel very connected to you. I lost my father in March on his birthday this year, and lost my mother when I was only 14. Both to cancer. I will be 30 yet sold this year and I feel the pain you feel. Not having both parents to call or hear old stories when you were little to tell up your children. I have two kids, both boys and they never got to meet my mother but shared a special bond with my dad. Every baseball game, my oldest, Anthony dedicates it to my dad. My dad use to go to all his games now the crowd seems empty and when my son cries, I can't help but break down with him. I try to be strong but I can't fight the tears. I can't tell you that things will get better because they never do. I know that for the rest of my life I will be missing a huge part of me that I'll never get back. I hope you can find some peace that our loved ones will no longer suffer with that horrible disease. That's what gets me through the day.

Jessica,

Thank you so much for your kind words.  I am so sorry to hear about you father.  I know its something we both never expected to happen at our age.  It still hurts very much.  I was very low and depressed for the longest time.  I believe now though I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  I know that I will always feel this pain, but it gets lighter after time.  Thanks again for your kind words.  If you ever need to talk, you know I can understand the feelings that can come from this.

Hello Travis,

I am very sorry for the loss of your father and your mother.  Losing a parent is very painful especially at a young age.  Currently we live in an unfair world where we are struck with tragedy and pain.  The future does have a different outlook.  I'd like to share the words found in Revelation 21:4 "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." In addition to taking away death and any kind of suffering, he also promises to bring back the dead to life. (John 5:28,29) You have the opportunity to be reunited with your parents! I look forward to the day these words are fulfilled.  I hope these promises can serve as some comfort.

My deepest sympathy,

Claire

It's been close to a year. Time moves quickly in Heaven, not so for us down here. Hopefully you've found a direction, with positive things to concentrate on. You're a young man and I sincerely hope you're doing well.
