With Thanksgiving quickly approaching I just wanted to say how thankful I am for this website and this forum. My Mom passed away November 3, 2009 we were as close as any Mom and son could be.  I have never experienced this kind of loss ever before, my Grandparents on both sides passed away when I was very young.  IM so blessed to have so many friends who have supported me however, most of those friends have not yet experienced the loss of a parent and the ones that have did not have the relationship like I did with my Mom so, for the most part they really don't know what to say or do.  My Dad bless his heart is 80 years old he and my Mom were married for 63 years so, he is dealing with his own grief, and is not that much of a support to me plus, he is from the old school where you just don’t put your feelings and emotions at on the table. After reading so many posts on this web site It was really comforting to know that this pain and sadness I was struggling with was normal and that IM not alone! And thank you to everyone that shared their stories, and the people that left replies, so many times I felt despair but, I would open this website a read a story that related almost 100% to me and, I would feel better. So please everyone continue to contribute  what’s going on with you and how do you continue to deal with such overwhelming grief.

God Bless everyone this holiday season and, many more holiday’s for years to come

Hi Henry! Wonderful paragraph above! I lost my Mom in September so this will be the first Thanksgiving without her and will be a difficult experience for me! I am 49 but feel like a little boy again in face of this sad time.
My Dad is still around so I am thankful for that! I hope to get through the "holidays" but I may never feel the same about them again. I have to work on this! I was very close to my Mom --and sometimes I can feel her "spirit" is with me! I hope the wonderful memory of her will at least carry me though the holidays (which my mum loved BTW.) I love them too and hope I will feel good again about them someday.

I say too--God Bless everyone this holiday season and, many more holiday’s for years to come--(Sorry Henry for borrowing your nice sentiments)!

Hi Frank,

Thank you! IM 48 and I know exactly how you are feeling! I too feel like a little boy! all of the 1st's after your Mom's passing will be difficult I wish I could tell you something different but, I cant! Do what ever you can to keep your Mom's memory alive, that has really helped me. The picture IM sending is a memorial I have at my house, I change it up every now and then. If, you ever feel you need to talk? just e-mail me at: HSawickijr@aol.com and I will send you my phone number. I sincerely mean that! because I know exactly what you are going thru.

Take care,

Henry

My MOM!
Hi Henry Thanks for the nice thoughts! I spent my first Thanksgiving without Mom with Cousins near Boston ! I was okay but different! I am not so good now with the holiday hype that is always here! Been depressed and hope to get out of it! I have SAD seasonal affective disorder so this time of year I could do without!

I hope to feel better with some activities and helping others! I will send you my E-mail Henry!

Best wishes
Frank.
Amen, to not being alone, Henry! It is nice to know that we are not going crazy.

Hi Henry. I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that there are so many who care. It's rare to find a son who was so dedicated to his parents. Please feel free to contact me, if you ever want to talk.
I have been there Hugs, Jeanne
Hi Jeanne,

Thanks for reaching out to me! It is also rare to have such a wonderful women who NEVER had a harsh word about anyone to call your Mom! everyone that met her loved her! which was evident by over the 100 people who attended her funeral. I miss her so much!! that some days the pain is so unberable that I don't think I can go on. The holidays are suppose to be happy times? but, since my Mom passed away its real different! Thanks again for reaching out to me!
Hugs back! Henry
