I just recently lost my mother and there isn't any pain that comes close to describing the great lost of someone so precious - you just recount every moment you shared together.  Two months prior to my mother death - we danced together like there was no tomorrow - I can still see that big smile on her face.  I know, I will see her again as promised in the scriptures.  I long to see her smiling face again.  Sometimes, I have to shut down my brain to not think of missing her because the pain is so great.  My Mom had a strong sense of humor and she will be forever missed.   I love my Mom and I miss her so badly.

Thank you for reaching out to me Melinda and Debbie. I know you understand. And yes, I'm anticipating with Joy someday being with them, my grandparents, my aunts and uncles.

So sad Debbie and Sandra. Lord please give them comfort by knowing they'll be reunited one fine day! I lost my Mom to throat Cancer, due to smoking. My sister quit cold turkey that day, 5 yrs ago. My Dad will be 87 yrs old on Feb 23.

So happy Sandra that you have great memories of your Dad and Mom.  Hold on to them.   It is has been a big life change for me also.  I lived with my Dad and he was my best friend.

It doesn't seem possible that a whole year without my dad has really passed. He is now with my mom who he missed so much for 2 years. I spent the day looking at family photos and letters he wrote. I'm the only child who wanted all his personal things. My sister misses him too but isn't as sentimental as I am. My brother seems to be absent, drinking as always. I was caregiver for both my parents for a few years so a big life change suddenly hit me last Feb 8th. I'm still trying to figure out how to structure my days to accomplish something rewarding.i still miss his presence in my life. A gentle funny loving man. He was 87 but a child at heart. He was a blessing to all who knew him.

Birthdays will be hard, especially when you were used to them all being family celebrations.  I'm sure that your Mom is watching and hoping you all find peace.  My Dad's birthday is 2/16.   I have to work that day, but would like to do something special to celebrate him.

I don't think anyone really "handles it" for a long time.   It was kind of like I was in a daze or "brain fog".  I couldn't concentrate on much of anything for long the first couple of months.  It's finally getting better now after three months.  Although it still seems unreal that my Dad is gone forever.   But I know he wanted me to enjoy my life.  Cling to your family and friends.  It does get easier.

I'm very lucky with my family my parents had 5daughters and 1son and I'm the third to the oldest we are very close and honestly our life was around our mom and dad and my mom always had the final's just hard to believe she is not here no's so hard to go over to there house and it kills to see my dad there alone my mom did everything for him but i think she knew her time was coming cause the last year before she passed she taught him to cook the basics and now to see him do it it's so heart breaking...i honestly don't know how i'm handling it

Susie, sorry for your friend's loss also.  In our division at work, three of us have lost parents in the last three months.  So sad.  You and your friend can just be there for each other because each of know what the other is going through.  It's been three months with my Dad gone.  It's getting a bit easier, but sometimes I think about it and I can't wrap my head around the fact that he's really "gone".  I guess I'm just so used to having him there.   I'm an only child and we don't have family here in Michigan.   My Dad was transferred in 1983.  Thank goodness for good friends!
