Happy Memories of Loved Ones

I lost my son May 9, 2008 at age 18. I have shared my story of grief and healing with many, I thought it would be a great idea if we all shared a story of a happy time with our child or loved one, something that will make us smile.

I received this memory quilt in the mail this week.  It was a complete surprise.  The affect it had on me was pretty overpowering.  I've been weepy ever since I opened the package.  My friend found all my favorite photos of Charles (and one of Robert, inadvertently!) on my Facebook.  Today I shared it with my therapist. We talked about all the photos and the memories attached to each one.

It's coming back to me that there was one night that Johnny his up and brother Mario and Chris were all playing jokes on each other late at night and while dad and mom are trying to sleep I got up  and said to knock it off you guys and get to bed!It was not an hour later i had to go to the bathroom and entering i felt this sticky stuff on my face and all over me and screaming while Johnny was around the corner laughing his head off i realized after turning on the light he had put packing tape across the door frame. My Johnny was a joker and i sure miss that.I am sure there more and as i remember i will share more!!

Yvonne, nothing dumb and juvenile, it is indeed a very cute story, good memories.

LOL Nicky! That is so funny, when my kids would be on the cell phone walking around talking loud and of course I would listen, and when it sounded like someone did something they probably shouldn't have I would ask "what happened?" they would say the same thing " quit listening to my private conversations!" LOL

one day my daughter and her best friend were braiding my hair.. each standing on one side of me, talking together,,, well they must have forgot that I was there in the middle of them because my daughter was trying to explain to her friend what another friends mom looked like,, these were her words..."she is as big as MY MOM"...  I just said HEY!!!!!!! Im right here.. and Abby just petted my cheek with her hand and said oh mom... stop eavesdropping.

Hello,
Read the SHINE ON, James and thought of a song. Think by John Lennon. In any event, yes! I believe he IS!
Thank you for creatimg Happy Memories of Loved Ones. Great idea! I've many about my son. Some very funny. Some I'd forgotten and imagine there are many more. Here is a funny one that only a Mom would find it funny and so dang cute.
Is something so human and personally, I find those type moments funnier than a joke. Is a private type humor. Yet much in it we ALL do. :)
He was around 6 years old and was standing in front of the toilet while I was busying at the bathroom sink. Suddenly he past gas and was a real 'ripper' that caused me to raise my eyebrows but didn't say amything. Just acted normal.
Looking my way he had a wonder, question mark look om his face.
"Mommy?"he said with the same wonder in his voice.
"Hmmm?" I responded nonchalantly.
"Does this make me a Daddy now?" With awe and a bit, 'Now what do I DO?' said his tone.
Well, I was not expecting such a question and found myself laughing that side-splitting laughter. He did not find this at all amusing. He was seriously wanting an answer to this very important question.
"No." I finally said while choking back hilarious giggles. He felt relieved and weak-kneed I managed to leave and cackle peels of more laughter where he could not hear me.
One of those, ya had to be there moments. Hope you get a chuckle!
