I am trying me best to keep my wife's family together and act like a real father to her kids...real dad has taken off. But they just want to blame me for her death, say that I didn't really love her, make comments that are untrue, and not have anything to do with me. Her youngest has no job, drinks constantly(I don't know where he gets the money), and lives in my wife's house. I have supported him financially(until now) and he won't relinquish mom's car to me. He has made up a story that she…

Thank you Charley.  I am sorry for the loss of your beautiful wife.  I've been reading stories and comments for a couple of weeks, and finally had the courage to write about my loss last night.  I have already found some comfort in the stories of others.  Not a day goes by without tears falling for him.  Thanks again.  Best wishes to you.

Thank you Charley and I'm very sorry for your loss as well. Losing our spouses is a horrible thing that I would not wish on anyone. I appreciate the advice but the problem is after my wife passed away I lost my faith. I don't know if or when I'll ever get it back either. I'm sorry to say but that's the way I feel. Still I appreciate the advice. Best wishes to you. Take care.

Thanks, Charley.  Cooper's been a trooper.  I'm so sorry for your loss and for your sister's as well.    Though it's still a struggle, faith helps a lot as does the realization that the only thing that is ever important is love.

Hi Charley,

Well, my older brother (by 7 years) and only sibling died rather unexpectedly April 19th... complications from surgery.  I'm stunned by my  grief, actually.  I lost my mother at 17.  And my father at 32, though we weren't very close.  But my brother -- I just thought he would be a constant for a long time.  He had only been retired for a year.  We were close off and on, most recently kind of off... as he had moved to TX and I'm in DC.

I think the biggest surprise is how invisible I feel as a surviving adult sibling.  I've read that it's called the "forgotten mourner,"  and now I completely understand.  In my family, I'm the only one left.  No kids.  No aunts or uncles.  So, when people say, "My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, it's really me ... and me.

Thank god for my dog.  :)
