We sat on that blanket,
That tatty, Raggy old blanket
And I held you in my arms.
We lay in the sun,
The warm life giving sun
And you breathed life into me.
I laughed as you climed,
Further and further you climbed
And you marked our love on the branch.
I sighed deep as we kissed,
Soul consuming, yet tenderly we kissed
And I knew it was for ever.
Summers came and winters went
And springs came, autumns went
And our love stayed as the trunk of that tree.
We laughed as you drove,
We talked as you drove,
Never thinking the car would be your tomb.
On Christmas Day, I climbed that tree
And though years have passed, it's still there, without leaves to guard it, our love is evident as it was on that day.
