Dear Dee, I have moved on from caregiver to grieving. I was primary caregiver for both my mother and husband and assisted my mother with my father. My father passed in 2008 2 weeks after his passing my mother was diagnosed with cancer she lived with me for her treatments and she passed 9 months later in 2009. Then before I knew it my husband was diagnosed with lung cancer and for 17 mos we fought his battle but lost just recently in 2011. Caregiving is a hard road to walk down it is a 24/7 job. Try and make time for yourself, NEVER give up your family or friends. a true friend will understand why the no calls or get togethers so if they do not understand they are not be your friend.
Hold on to the person you are caring for, tell them often you love them often because in one breath it will all be over.
