This Saturday, October 24th, would have been my Dad's 84th birthday. My Mom gave me the following letter to my Dad.
" My darling husband, Elmer Laubach on your 84th birthday. Thank you for all the years of loving me and giving and caring and patience. Especially Love...Thank you for loving me enough to hold me close whan I needed you most. I love you and know you are happy with our dear, precious Lord. I'll always, always love you and our wonderful children!
From your loving wife Doris and your children: Larry, Kathy, Gerry, Dorothy LuAnn, James, all the grandchildren and great drandkids.
UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN........HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY AND POPPIE!"
We love you and miss you and look forward to joining you in heaven some day!
Hi Dear, I, too was a Daddy's Girl, so I know what you feel. Poppy and Mom had a fairytale marriage too for 63 years. I spend alot of time with her now also and cherish every minute. My youngest brother still lives at home and my sister just lives next door. She's helping me deal with Dad's passing by showing us all that she's ok. Just know that you are in my prayers. You canmake me a friend i you like, and we'll chat again soon. God Bless
Dear Dorothy,
What a beautiful relationship your family has. I cannot imagine the loss your Mother feels. When a couple have been together and are as close as your parents It's almost cruel that one must go before the other. I'm so glad to here that you're just letting her express her feelings. That is what she needs. I know at times it must be almost unbearable for you. I lost my Mother on June 11Th,2009. I miss her so much and for so many reasons. Right now I have to work on the sadness. I know there will come a time when I will be able to think about her and not cry. Right now I still miss her too much.
I pray that you receive the strength of your loving family to help get you through this difficult time. Laurenelyse

This is a picture of my Mom standing by my Dad's grave. They were married 63 years and the last 19 months she sat by his bedside at the nursing home 8-10 hours per day, or longer, 7 days per week. Their love and faith have been an inspiration to us all. Daddy passed away on May 6, 2009. We miss you!
