Emily sweetie, my God you are so young to have lost your Mom, please know that I am praying for you. I lost my Dad recently but I am older than you. I lost my Mom 20 years ago when I was 27 so I know you are going through alot.
Please go to the library and check out 'The Mourning Handbook' it deals with death and grief. It helped me very much.
My prayers are with you!
Emily, I know how you are feeling I lost my mom on July 2, 2008 to Pancreatic Cancer too. Although I am much older than you, try to remember all the good times you both had with her and hold it close to your heart knowing that she is right there watching over you and your sister. I know my mom is with me and it's been a year already. I recently lost my fiancee July 31 of this year, to cancer, aids, and Hiv.. It has been only 2 1/2 months and it still hurts but I have to remember we will all be with them in heaven and to remember all the good times and the bad times... For god doesn't give us more than we can handle.. So stay strong for your dad he needs you both, my dad needs me and that's why I continue to go forward and remember the good times and the bad too.... My heart goes out to you and your family and may god bless you and help you through this difficult time in your lives....
I just lost my dad on 10/2/09 after a long illness. Although I am 50, it still hurts a lot. I can't even imagine losing a parent at your age. I really want to help you. We are both in pain right now and no one can make it feel any better. They say time heals and I hope so.
The only thing that keeps me going is that my dad is no longer suffering and is in heaven with my other relatives that passed away. I talk to my dad every night and ask him what he is doing. I imagine him playing cards with my uncles and eating his favorite Italian dishes that he was no longer able to enjoy on earth. My dad was blind the last 9 or 10 years, so I imagine him having perfect vision on the other side.
Think of your mom out of pain (cancer is very painful although I am sure your mom was very brave and put a smile on her face for you). Think of her smiling. Remember the good that she did.
I don't know what religion you are, but as a Christian (Roman Catholic), I believe there is a better life for us after this one. They say God doesn't give us more than we can handle, but sometimes I wish he wasn't so trusting of us.
