Judy, that's so sad about how your daughter passed. Her death just seemed to be so needless. I guess I'm lucky that my son passed because of just plain bad luck. My son had graduated from Ohio State University with a degree in criminology. He'd always been interested in police work and was actually going through the physical process with the Columbus, Ohio police dept. On 11-10-10, he had a chest x-ray that showed a possible aneurysm on his right aorta. He was contacted by physician who wanted to send the x-rays to his personal physician. He received the call on 11-15-10, contacted his physician for an appointment on 11-16-10 and passed away on 11-17-10.
Like you, no parent is ever ready for that news and I can really admit that I'd wished that the world would just blow up. I was in such pain. Parents talk about their children's wedding days. How beautiful the event was. I'm sad to say that my son had the most fantastic funeral. He was a member of the Ohio Air National Guard and they spared no expense on making my wife and I so proud. They supplied escorts for the showing. He had two commanders show up with about a hundred members of his unit for both his showing and funeral. They had a Color Guard do a 21 gun salute and they played taps. At the end of the services, each member came up to my son's casket a provided a " final salute ". It was so heartfelt and touching.
Your daughter's yorkie is so cute. Our two yorkies are Gizmo, who will be 14 in May and Lucy, who just turned 2 in March. That picture was taken over a year ago.
Do you have any surviving children ? My youngest son gave my wife and I the best reason to continue and try and thrive. He just graduated a year ago from Ohio State and he currently works for Honda Trading of North America. He moved out of our home last November, but lives less than an hour away, so we get to see him about every other weekend. We both worry about him but who wouldn't after losing one child.
Thanks for sharing your story. I have such a strong memory and I can almost think back to that period of your loss. It was just before my deceased son's 27 and last birthday. Take care and may pleasant memories of your daughter fill your heart with happiness.
Hi Judy, I see that you lost your daughter three years ago ( 5-3-10 ). What caused her passing ? I lost my son ( 11-17-10 ) from an aortic aneurysm. My wife and I never saw this coming. He didn't show up for work the day after his passing and that set off alarms. The police had to gain access to his apartment and found him on his bedroom floor next to the door. I can only assume that he knew something was wrong and made a dash for the door before collapsing. It's sad to think of it but my mind always wants to now the events leading up to his death. The coroner informed me that my son probably didn't know what was happening and he passed out quickly before death.
I only know that I still find it hard to believe that he's no longer a part of my life. His 30th birthday would have been on May 31st and as the date comes close, I feel more sadness. I'm over the shock of our loss and the pain isn't nearly as bad but I still grieve terribly and will until the day I take my last breath. My wife and I still have a younger son and we both go on for him...and for each other.
Three years for you. I guess we shared a first holiday season without our child. My 30 month mark is coming up on 5/17. I just go day to day. Good luck to you and your family in continuing to find ways to deal with your loss. Take care!
