Sandra, I am new to the site. Read about it in our local newspaper and having a difficult time dealing with my sister's terminal illness. And then I read your story. Would like to share true story I read in GUIDEPOSTS. Wish I could remember the issue so you could research.
A Mother has one son. ANd thruout her son's life after adolescene he has many issues in life. Unable to deal with the pressuers of life, keep a job, depressed and despondent. She tries everything she knows as a Mother to help her son. But no matter what she does she is unable to reach to the source of his pain. Her son committs suicide. Now her pain is even worse because she feels guilty. What else could she have done? And of course she has been raised to believe that taking one's life means that person's soul will not share everlasting life with her Christian God. Much soul searching and much praying. Shes asks the Lord for a sign. On simple sign that tells her that her son is at peace and is with him. Months pass and one winter morning she is at her ktichen window, the first snow of the year had settled. All of a sudden a beautiful RED bird lands on the tree in front of hr window. And looks directly at her. She has NEVER seen a RED bird in her yard in the years she has lived there. And it is freezing weather outside. Crying with joy, she believes that was God's sign to her! The sign she had been asking for. That her Son is at peace and with God. This sign gave her the courage to write her story and mail to Guideposts.
