Hi There. As a mother who lost her eldest son ten years ago, I have come to really dislike the term often used in grief work as living with a new normal. I work as a grief therapist and psychotherapist, and I can tell you from the perspective of a parent, there is nothing normal about the loss of a child, no matter the age. I think of it as "a new reality" that we are forced to live with. Losing someone you love isn't normal. Yes we adapt over time - life goes on with or without you. I get…

Hi Sharon, Yes you're right about family stuff.
Today I was going to do many things but decided something more important was to take care of myself. I listened to hypnosis CD or is it called DVD? I never get them straight. If you have ever done hypnosis and found it to be a valuable tool to feel like a nights sleep and think clearer than I recommend it. The following is the address:
www.HypnosisNetwork.com The title is "Manage Stress and Anxiety" through effective hypnosis techniques. by Randy Gilchrist, Psy. D.
Please don't think I'm being pushy or presumptuous but for some reason I felt that you to may need a reminder to take care or yourself. The reason is because I am aware that you give so much of yourself to others. We need to be reminded sometimes that we need to come first in order to give to others.
Thank you for your kind words in your last post.
Stay Well,
Barbara
Sharon, I hope your brain feels renewed today. I have lots of things going on in my life yet I think of and consider the members on Legacy wondering how everyone is doing.
Maybe you are being overwhelmed with so many people and their issues that you need a break from it. I know that the people that have done the groups I had attended are no longer advertising their bereavement groups as they did. It can take a toll on a human being.
I know I'm not a professional as you are however I'm just saying maybe you need a break?
Take care and know that I care about others.
Barbara
