Hi Stephanie, I just saw your post under the Pet loss forum, and also just saw your post here about the loss of both your friend's dad and Harry, and want you to know you're not alone. Did you see the posts that Jan and I have been sharing with each other about the loss of our pets under the pet loss forum? I am so sorry for your losses, and hope you feel up to joining our discussion and talking about things. I know exactly what you mean when you said that most people don't understand the terrible grief over the loss of a pet.
Even though it makes me cry to share things and discuss the loss of my cats, I'm finding it really helpful to be able to share my feelings here with people who understand, I've been holding things inside for a really long time. My husband is the only one I can talk to, but I hate to keep burdening him now because he's dealt with his grief a lot better than I have. He's trying to move on and is really good at focusing on the wonderful times we had with our pets, but I'm finding it harder to do that and am still grieving.
I'm on my way out right now and wish I had more time to talk to you, but I wanted to let you know I did see your posts and am thinking of you. I'll write again to you as soon as I can, I sure hope you see my reply here. Be sure to take care of yourself and let yourself cry whenever you need to, and know that there are people who do understand and care, and we'll talk again soon,
Take care,
Darlene

It has been a very tough week. My best friend's Dad died (he was also my neighbor) and my mother-in-law's dog is having to be put down. I am an animal lover and that dog was like my own. I am glad I went out to the farm yesterday to say my goodbyes to Harry while we sat in the dark corner of the haymow, but I still can't believe the 14 year old 60#ball of fur won't be there the next time I go out to visit. I really can't talk about the loss of the dog to my friends because they don't understand the bond I shared with him, so I hope you all will say a prayer for Harry as he journeys into doggie heaven!
