HOPI Indian Prayer (Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep)

HOPI%20Indian%20Prayer.doc

HOPI INDIAN PRAYER

Do not stand

at my grave and weep.

I am not there,

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand

winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight

on ripened grain.

I am the gentle

Autumn's rain.

When you awaken

in the morning hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush

of quiet birds

in circled flight.

I am the soft stars

that shine at night.

Do not stand

at my grave and cry;

I am not there,

I did not die.

I love that prayer.  My Dad was Cherokee and my sister read that poem when we placed his ashes in his final resting place next to my Mom.  Thank you for reminding me of the lovely prayer.  I know my Mom and Dad are "living" somewhere else and we will be together someday.  Bless you.

-HOPI PRAYER-  Truly beautiful, touching. Reaching to feelings that need comfort and healing. May you be well, and in the words of my Dad who passed on two weeks ago, "stay strong". Because you can feel grief you can understand compassion. Truly a wonderful possesion.  PEACE        TCdisco2571@att.net
