My wonderful husband passed away on 5/31/2009 and I just can't believe how different my life has been. I miss him so much but I'm also getting to the point that I realize how lucky we were to have him for the time that he was with us. Like many others, he was never sick until one day he developed a terrible backache (at the age of 53). Our lives were never the same from the day that he was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, He had Chemo, steroids and a stem cell transplant and he still only lived for 22 months. It's been a terrible year of "firsts" but some how you survive. In my case I didn't have much of a choice, We have a 15 year old daughter and a 27 yo son.
On Monday which will be one year since his death, we plan on having a celebration of John's life. We're going to do a graveside dove release, followed by a balloon release . We have asked everyone to write one of their favorite memories of John on their balloon !!! After that we will come back to out house for a cook out.
If any of you who have done something like this I would appreciate if you would share your experience and offer any ideas or thoughts.
I'm so very sorry for everyone's loss.
Godspeed,
Vicki
