Learning to Move Forward by Letting Go

Let’s face it: we all have negative or bad experiences in the past that we just cannot seem to get past. There are just certain things, that when remembered, always cause anxiety and anger to build up inside us. The lost of someone you love is not easy to forget. And we have to admit that sometimes we just don’t want to let go of these negative emotions and memories. Why? Do we want to feel like we’re the victim? Do we need to even the score before we let go?

The truth is,…

How long is the grieving process?

The challenges we face when moving forward.

I believe it will help you to know that moving forward when an unfortunate station happens is a process; in fact, it’s a long journey of acceptance and healing, and there is not a specific time period.  But I know you can get through it, and return back to a happy and productive life. I know it is hard for you to believe what I am saying right now, but you must hold onto hope, keep the faith. Keep reminding yourself that things will…

What Makes a Mother Poem

I thought of you and closed my eyes,

And prayed to God today.

I asked what makes a Mother,

And I know I heard him say:

A mother has a baby,

This we know is true.

But, God, can you be a mother,

When your baby's not with you?

Yes, you can he replied,

With confidence in his voice.

I give many women babies,

When they leave is not thier choice.

Some I send for a lifetime,

And others for a day.

And some I send to feel your…

Electronic Bill Pay

How will your loved ones track those “invisible” bill-pay charges?

Over time, I have set up automatic payment for several of my bills:

• My monthly mortgage bill is paid by a recurring, automatic charge (direct debit) to my checking account. Two insurance premiums are paid the same way.

• Other bills are automatically charged to my major credit card:…

Fourteen Months...........................

They say there is a reason, They say that time will heal.

But neither time nor reason Will change the way we feel.

For no one knows the heartache that lies behind our smiles.

No one knows how many times we have…

Message from Hari

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free

I'm following the path God laid for me.

I took His hand when I heard him call;

I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,

To laugh, to love, to work or play.

Tasks left undone must stay that way;

I found that place at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,

Then fill it with remembered joy.

A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss;

Ah yes, these things, I too will miss.

Be not… Continue

A Year Ago Today...

It has been one year since I became an orphan.  My mom left this world a year ago today and here I am without a parent.  I thought age would make losing her less painful.  I didn't think my heart could ache again, but it does.  I couldn't cry today, because my daughters were crying through their memories of her.  I had to be strong.  I wore one of her Maxine pins all day as a way to keep her with me.  I  hope she knows I haven't forgotten what a wonderful mother she was...I haven't stopped… Continue

Life Goes On

On January 19th, 2011 I lost my sister in a very sudden death.  It was completely unexpected.  I find that I still have so much trouble sleeping at night.  Any moments not spent working I think about the horrible things she must have endured right before she died.  I try to spend as much time with my parents as I can because they are dying inside.  I have siblings that are also grieving so very much.  I find that I don't talk to them as much because I know they have enough to deal with.  I look… Continue

To Grieve or Not to Grieve, That Is the Question!

If you were given the choice between diving into the darkest depths of the ocean, fully equipped with all of the gear needed to handle whatever you might encounter, OR being slowly dragged down by an 80-pound anchor while you flailed frantically to keep your head above water, which would you choose?…

The little girl in the picture.

They say, writing is the best way to sort your feelings out, I do not know if thats true, but it's worth a try.

I have lost so many loved ones in my life, some of the most important people I lost at a young age.

My Uncle by marriage has always sent me pictures of the past, he does it mostly to keep in touch I think.

I received two pictures the other day and they have been haunting me. Pictures have never bothered me until this recent set came along.

This child,…

Changes

I'm not sure this is the right place to do this but I think it is. It will be 22 months the 29 th of this month since I lost my husband. Today I can say I am once again able to smile, laugh and be happy. I have been very fortunate and blessed to have found someone to share my life with again. We met on this site and he lost his wife 13 days before I lost my husband. Neither one of us were looking for anyone else,we were grieving for our spouses simple as that. Throughout this process we began… Continue

Anger - my old nemesis

Well, I've read that anger is a part of grief, and it's been around since not long after Steve died.  But it reached new heights this week after one of the men in my grief group asked about "fault" in Steve's accident.  I could have ducked the question, said I haven't seen the full police report yet (which is true).  But I didn't; I answered.  I know that whatever the driver of the car did wrong, Steve went through a stop sign, so he shares the responsibility for his death.  I'm having a lot…

SLEEPING ANGEL

Expecting your first born should be the most joyful time in your life, you never expect for the worse. I went for a regular check up and they couldn't find my sons heart beat they took us to do an ultra sound and my baby wasn't moving, my boyfriend & I just sat there crying, holding each other trying to grasp everything. We went home gathered some phone numbers, and clothes. I called my mom to meet us at the hospital, as we got to the the hospital they… Continue
