You Were There

The day you died Heavens angels carried your soul away

my mind confused lost without direction

darkness erased  my joy filling my world with endless pain

I couldn't find comfort in family or friends

know one could understand

I felt abandoned by all fading in depression

feeling numb dying slowly as a woman

praying night and day for release

your embrace saved me when know one could

Surprise Death

I just found out that a close friend died a few weeks ago. Did not even know she was sick. I miss her .
I totally missed the funeral because I just found out. I can not wait until death will be a thing of the past (Hebrews 2 :14)

Living with Loss

My mom was widowed twice by the age of 46, and she gave me some sage advice; “Life is a series of changes and you must learn to adapt to change.” At this time in my life my perspective is a bit different; I see life as a series of losses, and it’s essential that you learn to cope with those…

Long Winter Gives Way to Bright Spring

Spring is coming. While it might not seem like it with all snow and rain in many states this winter, everything will begin sprouting green soon because of all that moisture.

Usually we all look forward to spring because that means summer and…

Am i doing something wrong

It will be two year's next month since my wife passed away. I see her family living life like nothing happened. I know life goes on but I am having a hard time and I still struggle every day. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with me? Others have gotten over it and I can't.

Lost My Husband of 39 Years

My husband was killed in a tragic car accident last July while we were traveling from Greece back to Bulgaria.  Five days prior to the accident our son had gotten married to a wonderful girl from Bulgaria.  After the wedding we were traveling with the brides parents and my brother and sister in law as well as my best friend.  We planned this trip to Greece to relax by the water.  On the way back to Bulgaria a car decided to pass in a no passing zone causing a collison with a semi which than…

Arlington National Cemetery Burial Isn't Limited to Heroes, Government VIPs

Q. I heard that an acquaintance of mine, who just died, is going to be buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Is that possible? He was just an ordinary guy. I thought you had to be a military hero or someone important in the government. Also, how much does it…

Refreshing Your Outlook By Looking To Nature

In your grief, it’s easy to become numb to yourself and to the world. The vibrancy of the world – its colors, noises, smells and tastes – can be too much for you to manage. Add the lack of touching, which you miss so much, and you just want to climb into your hole and ask the world how it can go on when your life has stopped. Consequently, you may revert to not wanting to feel anything and, hence, you make yourself…

My feelings

I feel that one of the worst things a person can say is, your loved one is in a better place. I'm sure they mean well and I'm sure heaven is a beautiful place to be, but I can't think of a better place then to be back with the person missing them..

MISSING MY WIFE SO MUCH

Missing my wife so much. Next month it will be two years since she passed away at the age of 40. She had never been to the doctor and was not sick. She had taken my mom shopping and while walking through Meijer she just collapsed and died of a heart attack. I was at work when I got the phone call, I was told she had a seizure and I needed to get to the hospital now. I had a 45 minute drive to get there and my mom didn't want me to know what had happened because I had to drive. On the way there… Continue

My hero gone but not forgotten

I have read many posts and they have touched my heart. I have been grieving for the loss of my dad David Odman, who died at 59 on 01/21/09. I can remember the phone call the night of the 20th, with my step mom Dianne screaming into the phone at 2:00 am saying dad is in ICU, he just had a major cerbrovascular accident. Get to the hosptial now. I just remember blindly running through the house, getting dressed, getting my kids up, making sure my dog went potty. I can remember thinking I was so…

The Jewish Mourning Ritual of Sitting Shiva

Members of the Jewish faith observe Shiva, a seven-day mourning period following the funeral of a family member. The word Shiva literally comes from the Hebrew word for seven. While sitting Shiva, family members do not work and typically stay home.

How will you know if the family is sitting Shiva? There is usually an announcement…

Does it really get any better?

As the days go on, I seem to be getting worse, not a day has gone by without tears, my son gets married exactly 4 months from today & I wish I could feel some happiness because it is not fair to him that I am just going thru the motions, he tells me he also misses his dad & would like nothing more than for his dad to be present at his wedding like he was at his brother's but that he is worried about me because at this point he would not want to lose another parent & he feels my…

lost my husband and best friend

Hi. Never imagined I'd be doing this. Just 2 months ago I lost my husband, business partner, confidante, and best friend. Got a phone call from my son about 15 minutes before he and my husband would have been done work. The most dreaded sound I ever heard--my son screaming and not able to speak in the phone--trying to tell his mom that his dad was dead!  My husband went to work one day and never came home.  He was 51, in perfect health, extremely happy in life and very hard working.  With…
