My Son

I just lost my 28 yr old son in June. I am searching for comfort and advice because I feel as if I am drowning in sorrow. H ewas very close to me and often called a momma's boy. My husband also died 10 yrs ago and alot of old grief is cropping up also. I'd appreciate any suggestions from other moms or anyone with some suggestions.

Why is it so hard to listen?

Two of my friends are great listeners; one says it’s because she’s the middle child and the other because she’s the eldest. Well, I’m a good listener too and I’m the youngest. So there goes the birth order theory.

So what makes a good listener? Most important, the willingness to keep quiet while someone else speaks. But it’s not just listening that’s important; it’s being attentive and present. In this era of multi-tasking, it’s hard to concentrate on just one thing and keep your…

Hard Feelings and Visitation

My friend "Joe" has asked me whether or not it would be proper to attend a visitation IF: a former friend's father unexpectedly passed away from a freak accident. "Joe" and his former friend have not spoken in at least a year due to a major argument with many bitter feelings. "Joe" was not friends with the deceased, but had spoken to him many times at group events. "Joe" does occasionally speak with the former friend's wife and young daughter as they have been friends for years. Would it be… Continue

POEMS

This is a picture of my son Jordan. One week before he died, he went camping with his Dad and he built this fire. He took this picture himself. Beautiful, isn't he!

In the silence of you slumber,

theres a lowlit burning fuse.

Youre journey now is over,

and you've paid your final dues.

Your sun will now be setting,

from a view I cannot see.

A prism of crystel colors,

that plays a beautiful… Continue

RIP Anthony Guzman

We lost a very good friend on 7/17/09. Anthony was 34 years old when he met the Lord. He was a great person. Very healthy, active, non-smoker, non-drinker, loved Carne Asada, his family and friends. Devoted to his church. We miss him and will never forget him.

RERELEASING GRIEF - HOW?

RELEASING GRIEF - HOW?

In life it is not common for all of us to experience loss in some way. It’s only natural that each person will express grief in their own way as well. And such factors as whether the loved one died suddenly or death came after a long illness might have bearing on the emotional reaction of the survivors. However one thing appears certain: Repressing your feelings can be harmful both physically and emotionally. It is far healthier to release your grief. How?… Continue
