What it takes to be a Caregiver

To be a Caregiver it takes a lot of LOVE. Without love, it is practically impossible to care in that capacity. Your life as you know it will change. Your needs will become 2nd to none. Your major concern will be that of your love one. You however, do not even consider the time, energy and money that must be extended to the one we truly love in order for them to be comfortable and to feel loved.

Love is what will substain one during the most challenging time in their life. - 1 Timothy… Continue

My Loves My Life

My heart is screaming no God

Np this cannot be true

Everything I live for

Has been taken from me

My loves My Life

How am I to go on

I still cannot beleive

What am I to do now

They were everything to me

So here I just wrote this

I read your story today

I've been where you are

Maybe in a different way

God Bless every step you take

For it will not get any easier

But time will help day to…

Life Changes

I found I had to move out of my home I shared with my husband because I could not handle the ghosts any longer. I had made the conscious choice to start dating and getting myself out more and make new friends. It has turned out to be one of the best choices I could have made for my new life. My dear Bill has been gone 22 months on Christmas Day. My new home brought with it wonderful new friends and then a happy surprise of a new companion. I met a wonderful man here in the upstate who is…

Find comfort in God - The Master of all Comforts

The lost of a love one can bring about so much emotional stress and confusion that at that moment we are at a  lost for words.  Emotionally, we are totally drained.  Jesus comforted those in mourning all of the time during his ministry.  (1 Thessalonians 5:11)   During Jesus entire ministry, he lovingly comforted mourning ones, bringing them encouragement and peace of minds.

Death is nothing to fear - once we cease to exist we are in a deep sleep (Eccl. 9:5)  The Bible give us so…

My Brother

I'm a relatively private person. However, this situation leaves me craving for someone who can relate.  I have a wonderful husband, supportive friends, and a close family...yet, I still feel so alone sometimes. I would love to connect with someone who has been through the same thing as I have.

Death - Peaceful Confirmation

Death - what is it?  Why do we die?  Why do we grow old?

God has a plan for all of us.  At death - we cease to exist - however, we are in the memory of our Heavenly Father. (John 5:28,29)  God original plan for mankind was to live forever, however, due to man going against God - we are improverish with all of the ailment that befit an imperfect being.  The comfort comes from knowing that once we die it is as if we are in a deep sleep - free of any kind of emotional or physical pain.…

Sharing the Gift of Obituaries

I recently wrote an obituary for a man who died suddenly and too soon. I didn’t know him – he was a friend of a friend – but because I am a writer and am immersed in all things obituaries, I am sometimes called on to pitch in for families and friends. In this case, my friend asked me to write the obituary because she wanted to give it to the grieving family as a “gift” – relieving them of as much of the decision-making, fact-checking, detail-gathering chores as possible at a time…

Celebrating with Suicide Loss Survivors

This year, I celebrated my birthday in Los Angeles with friends and fellow survivors of suicide loss. It was my 40th, and I had tried to make plans with various people in various parts of the country. But nothing came together until I booked a plane ticket to L.A. and announced to friends when I would be there.

I spent the evening of December 10th in Los Angeles at the Survivors After Suicide 30th Anniversary Pot Luck. Most people think that when a group of bereaved people…

Being a Pallbearer at a Funeral

Q. I’ve been asked to be a pallbearer at a funeral. What exactly is a pallbearer supposed to do? How many are there? And do I have to say yes? Frankly, I’ve only seen pallbearers in movies or on TV.

Pallbearers carry or accompany the casket at a funeral. They are friends, relatives, professional or business associates of the deceased—or sometimes members of the religious congregation. Pallbearers who do not actually carry the coffin are called “honorary…

Where Are You Christmas?

Christmas 2011 is nearly here.  The presents are wrapped and stowed away until Santa comes and lays them under the tree on Christmas Eve while the dance of sugar plum fairies commences in the dreams of my daughters.  The tree is up, decorated and lit – each ornament has an origin.  Some received on the advent of one of the kids first Christmas; others as gifts to each one of…

Thank you.

On December 15, 1973 At 6:29 PM, on a frigid U.S. Air Force Base in Utah, a scared 20 year old young woman and her (equally scared) 21 year old husband, after enduring 26 hours of labor, brought a new 6.6 pound life into this world. That just delviered baby boy would start life with a few obstacles and spent several days in Intensive Care while his liver formed…
