It is my hope that anyone who has lost their lifelong partner will get through grief, allbeit the hardest thing I have ever done. Yesterday was the anniversary of my husband's death, the 7th one, and for the first time I could remember the day without tears but rather with thoughts of all the good times we shared together. Grief for me has been 7 years. I think perhaps it is different for each person, but if you are trying to get through to "the other side of grief", just hang in there and keep putting one foot in front of the other until the day comes you can laugh again. Nell,
These are great words of wisdom. All we can each do is keep moving forward. I know I have moved forward in the past 18 months more than I ever thought I could and it all really happened unconsciously. I did not plan the moving forward, I certainly did not strategize it...it just happened. I am far from "over" my grief, but at least some days are manageable. I think everyone needs to hear your words. Knowing that you have made it through all of the firsts, seconds, and all the way through the sixths of every moment that is special can give others encouragement.

Thank you for sharing a piece of your journey.
