SEARCHING FOR WIDOW/WIDOWER SUPPORT GROUPS IN PORT CHARLOTTE OR PUNTA GORDA

Myl husband had stage 4 brain cancer and was sick for a very long time.  I feel I can recover this loss better if I attend support group meetings to learn how other people cope with the loss of a loved one.  I am not sure how to research group support meetings and how I can learn the guidelines of attending an event.

Hi Joyce. Check with your local churches and on line. A friend found me Grief Share which is a great group. It's a 17 week program. I didn't think they could help as it had been 10-11months since my husband died. It was helpful to be able to sit in a room w strangers and share my story, my fears for the present and future. It has been 19 months and now I can face so much. I'm even dating a ex-boyfriend from high school. He lost a son in 2001. We are both in a great place now in our hearts and minds. I wish you the best
