I just signed the petition too.  The police should not be allowed to commit murder, which they did, to an innocent young man who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.  How devastating!  They must be held accountable.  As another bereaved parent, I grieve for your son too.

Rick, I know this day has been hard for you. I dread that first birthday of my son, but I do want us to celebrate the life he lived and the time we had him with us. I hope you find some comfort in your memories of your son, Zack. My  prayers are with you and your family.

Rick I too have a hard time with the simultaneous joy and pain. My oldest son is 25 and my other living child is my 10 year old daughter. She is truly what keeps me going. As she gets older she looks more and more like my Caitlin and it is wondeful and tears at me at the same time. The holidays were much of the same. The joy at watching our daughter on Christmas morning then going to the cemetery. Emotional overload for sure.

As for birthdays. Caitlin l;oved Go-Carting. From the time she was 10 she went go-carting with friends on her birthday. Even when she turned 16. No big party, just dinner and go-carting with the usual suspects. She died 4 months before her 17th birthday and for that and each birthday after, we went go-carting with her friends then out to eat. It does my kids spirits good and her friends feel good too. My daughter and I write messages to her on balloons and let them go up to heaven. It is always a good day and I know Cait gets quite a kick out of seeing her mom on a go-cart.  This has torn a hole in my soul that will never heal until I can hold her again. Until then I have a job to do with 2 other children who no matter their age need me to show them the beauty and wonder of life. No easy task for sure.

Whatever you choose to do for your sons birthday, he will love it and it will be the right thing for all of you.  Take care.

Hey Rick I have a good one for you. My son, who supposedly completed suicide, was most likely caught in the middle of a DEA or State investigation and got shot in the head. The locals are covering it up by saying he committed suicide. Too many things they have covered up that I have learned since point to murder, but they won't even admit that. For exam;le, the gun found at the scene was not even the same brand that my son was known to have.....and the fact that the clip was separate from the gun. So they are saying that my son shot himself in the head, released the clip, and tossed away the pistol before he hit the ground dead. I don't know in whose world that might be true, but not in mine! Blessings to you and I pray you find out who is really at fault and get some closure from this.....because that is all we will ever have. It will not return our boys.

Rick:

I can somehow relate in what you are saying although my son was shot by the police it was a head on collision and since my son died its his fault like he committed suicide like we told the police this was the happiest day of his young life he was 17 and just got his first girlfriend and was on his way back from getting firewood from his friends house he was literally 25 feet from his turn lane to go to our street why would he just decide at the last minute to go into another lane we are asking if amother car might have ran him off the road or something wrong with the vehicle but noone stoped or gave statements we live on a very busy street but their was no witnesses, like you im so frustrated that its my childs fault basically because he isn't here to defend himself
