AdriAnne, though you live in different states as your sister, stay as close as you can.I wish I had another sibling,of course not to take the place of but to pick up the phone to call.I have cousins to call, but they don't understand my grief and I don't want to bother them. They don't know what to say.
Hello friend, how are you coming along? After re-reading your post,I was wondering if you have any siblings left or are you the only one? For me it was just me and my brother.I'm always saying to myself,if my brother were here he could help me with whatever, any decisions, etc. Now I have the weight on my shoulders.Have you been to any Bereavement groups? I go to one,it is called"The Compassionate friends",it is for Parents,Grandparents and Siblings. They are a wonderful group of people,if you have one in your area,go for a meeting and see if it is a help for you.Though I don't say much,it is support.Take care, elyse
AdriAnne,As I was reading over again your post ,I came upon your saying not growing old with your siblings,I think of that often,my brother,my only sibling not here with me,I hope I'll be strong enough. It will be a very lonely time in my life then.I see the sadness in my mother, how this is affecting her.She has lost her son.I keep thinking in my mind ,my brother is not here,my brother is not here it's almost like a mantra. How can this be.
AdriAnne,Sorry for your loss of your brother and to have joined our group for that reason.A loss of anyone is devastating, but a sibling and being our only sibling is even more.I too have lost my brother /only sibling in a drowning May 28,2014 and my grief overwhelms me.With a sibling loss, you lose your past, your present, your future and how true.My brother would have been 55 the next month.Hoping our group can be an outlet for you to express your feelings, anything you want to share,we are all here for each other.((hugs to you))elyse
