That picture of Tyler was taken on our last trip together - we rented a home in Italy - that was taken in the town of Lucca. It was the September before we lost him. 4 months before, almost to the day. I would love to remember every second of the trip - it was amazing from start to finish, but it just hurts too much. Sometimes I think we feel oddly numb because it's our brain's way of coping with the unthinkable. It can only give us so much at a time to deal with. If it gave us all of it all at once, let's face it, we wouldn't be able to handle it.

Hi Dawn - after I hit the send button it suddenly dawned on me that it was probably you!!!! I am so glad you found this site - it really helps even if you just read the comments from others. It does help to know that anything and everything you are feeling someone else has already felt. It really helps to know there is nothing wrong with you. Your son is so handsome. I just put Tyler's picture up this week! It hurts too much to look at it. I will be there tonight - how about you?
Hi Dawn - I am sorry to have to welcome you to this site, but you have come to the right place. Nothing you are feeling or not feeling now is wrong. We have all felt exactly as you have and continue to do so. I see that you are in New Fairfield Ct. I am in Bethel. I lost my only child, my son Tyler, at age 24 on 01/26/10. I want to tell you that there is a group that meets at Healing Hearts in Danbury. It is for parents who have lost adult children. Some members have been there over two years, new ones join all the time. There is a moderator, Laurie Petrosante. If you are interested let me know and I will give you the contact information. We will all keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Remember, nothing you feel or say or do is wrong. You have suffered the greatest loss of all and you are entitled to feel whatever you want to.
