Dear Kelly,
What a handsome son. I empathize with all the "first" you have recently gone through. Fortunately you seem to have a strong support system. I have never been able to make sense of why my daughter's accident took her life either. There seemed to be very little damage to the car, yet she passed on impact (I still have a hard time with the word died, because to me she still lives on). I agree with you that the notion of it being their time is the only explanation. After all, she was a good girl, high honor student, held a summer job, no drugs, good friends, and promising outlook on life. Why would God take her? Anyways, I just felt a connection with you and your grief. God Bless, Cynthia

Hi Kelly, Your story touched me deeply. My son Jimmy, at age 26, was shot and killed on his way home from work, by an escaped juvenile. It's all so senseless, but like you, I feel God has His plan and knows when our time will come even before we are born. My boy didn't have a child, I wish he had. I do okay some days and have a hard time other days. It's coming up on one year, August 29th. I just went to the cemetary for the first time since we buried him. Life is changed forever, but we must go on. Today, my youngest son Jason (in the photo with me) is returning back to California from Albuquerque where we were all living when Jimmy was killed. I am so happy that he will be close by again. We are a very close family. Jason is bringing his roommate Chet here too! Chet is one of ours now. He's been there through all of this with us and is one of Jason's close buddies. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope we can keep in touch. You can write to me at mail@ironwillow.com if you want, or post on this site. God bless you Kelly. I will be praying that your grandson's mom will have a change of heart and keep you close to him. By the way, your son is vey handsome and I can see a sparkle in his eyes when he smiles. His smile is from the heart. I know how much you miss him. Take care. Barb
