Hi Jim,
I would not tell you that I know what you are going through, even though I’ve gone through the experience of suddenly losing my partners to death TWICE. It is simply a different experience and a different process for each of us.
What I do know is that with enough time, with enough people who care about you around you just enough to let you know they are there if and when you need them, with a little bit of work on yourself each and every day, you will get better. You will surely still miss him a lot, even with the passing of time, but hopefully, you will eventually find that life for those of us left behind does indeed go on.
It’s been more than two years for me. I find myself talking to both of them at night just before I fall asleep. But I get up each morning, put one foot in front of the other, go to work, try to make some sense of the world around me, get back home, and repeat. You will, too.
Please let me know if you need someone to talk to. I and many others are here for you.
Thank you John, I appreciate that and sorry for your loss. I have never felt such pain and loss. We were so close and had an amazing relationship. There is this feeling of an enormous void and i miss him more and more with each passing day. It has certainly changed my life and the way I feel about life.
I did feel the void for a long time. I asked myself what the purpose of the rest of my life is. Work and life itss]elf got in the way of wondering so much. Eventually the day came when I stopped asking about what my life is for. I don’t know how. It just did.
