I still miss Doug more today than I ever have. Just after being faced with his death I was run over by a car while crossing a parking lot. The lady was texting on her cell phone. Now after 7 months of being in a hospital, through MANY major surgeries, and then rehab at a nursing home without family my challenge is greater and my pain for Doug is deeper. I do believe he is with me and that Alcohol was the vicious disease that ate his body. Sadly he made the choice due to it was  an ADDICTION. God I miss Doug and hate addictions.

I am sorry for all of your loss and i know how much it hurts and all the pain we are all suffering,i lost my oldest son Johnny at the age of 36 to this disease.I nagged him about this drinking until he finally went to get help he did this three times and was doing okay until his work laid him off for two years and then he began again he would tell me wasnt drinking but he couldn't fool me until he had tremors had to have medication and hospitalized his liver was started to fail and was told he had a couple of years I was in denial thinking he could kick his and so did he,as days went by he was getting weaker my daughter had call specialist about the family being tested for begin a donor to her brother we had 1 week before our appointment as we spoke to the doctor in the hospital in regards to his and he said he was sorry that his kidneys were also failing he didnt make it and to his day i blame my self for not begin able to help him control this. I miss him everyday and our lives without him is very difficult,so trust me Losing a Son or Daughter is something I wish no Parent would have to go through. God Bless All Of You. Your Friend

I've lost several friends to this disease. When someone get's trapped in it, you feel like you've got nothing else to do but drink or use. One say's to him/her self....I'm at the bottom of a well and I don't know how to stop digging. Sorry Ellen for your deep pain..........John

The sadness still is eating me alive. The DISEASE of Alcoholism overcame the love of my life. He was 55 and no longer alive and able to continue our journey on earth together. I miss him with every beat of my heart and am not sure how to continue on. He was unemployeed for the last two years due to the economy and made poor choices with alcohol in my eyes. When he started reaching for help, his body was already to plaqued with the chemical of alcohol and his liver was gone. GOD I am sick without him. It was supposed to be life together here. I am handicapped physically since some surgery. We ARE soulmates . I am lost.
