My mom passed away on Oct. 19, 2007. I've been a mess ever since. We were very, very close.

I am so lost without her I don't know which way to turn.

Dear Joni,

I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Mothers are very special and the one person you can always count on that will be there for you so it is very normal for you to feel lost without her.

This pain you are feeling and her absence will not last forever. John 5:28&29 says;"Do not marvel at this because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." God promises that he will bring back to life here on earth those we have lost in death. What a wonderful hope to look forward to. You can be reunited with your mother once again. And you can have the certainty that you will never experience this pain & suffering again as Revelation 21:4 says; "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

I hope these scriptures can be of comfort and hope to you.

My deepest sympathy.

Sincerely,
Claire

Hi Joni.

I feel exactly the same way. My mom died seven years ago and I still can't seem to get it together.

She was my mom and my best friend.

Thank you for your sympathy .. I really do appreciate it. I am not a religious person and do not believe in God but I appreciate your reply.

Losing a mother is very difficult. I also lost my mother 5 months ago and I was her only child. Imiss her very much and life is not the same without her. I have joined a Grief Recovery group which has helped.
There are groups all over the valley. Look online and you will be able to join. They are free.

Claire is right. Our mothers are in a place with the Lord and they are no longer in pain. I believe we will be reunited someday. God bless.
I joined this site on a whim i guess, i was up late feeling sorry for myself and wondering why me and why my mom. My mom passed away suddenly on July 6th, 2010. I, just like other people on here, miss her so much it hurts and also have taken the role of caring for my father, my mother was young, only 52 and my father is very broken up about it. The thing that has brought me comfort was that even after 20 yrs away from the church and still not being in the church, i think of my mom in heaven watching down on me and my family, that makes me want to be a better person, it makes me want to live a full life and do everything i have been putting off. I by no means am better and my life has not gotten "back to normal" as they say, but when I am sad and missing my mom, I just think of her smile, and everything she taught me and it gives me comfort, somehow. I still cry daily, and probably will for a long time, but my father needs me now and so does my daughter, and that holds me together. Joni said:

I so enjoy the discussions here. I lost my Mother on 2/20/2010. Every day is a struggle to go on in a way that would honor her memory. I think that questioning what you believe and perhaps changing or adjusting those beliefs is healthy. It is only natural to ask questions and search for greater meaning when we have lost someone we love. Whether you believe in God, a divine power, a particular religion or spiritual dogma, I like to think that there is one universal belief. It is that we are joined to those we have lost by the bonds of love and love never dies.

Thanks to all who have the courage to write of their pain and loss...you help me more than you know.

Dear Joni,

I appreciate your honesty and I am glad you did not take offense to my comments. In speaking to alot of people, the most common reason many do not believe in God is because of the suffering they go through when they lose someone they love or a tragedy occurs. If you ever want to discuss the subject further, I will be glad to hear you out.

Take care.

Claire
