Blog: Stay Close to Family & Friends

I recently lost a aunt who was a very wonderful lady. I can kick myself for not reaching out a little more. All of us have loss someone very close to us. We have loss moms, dads and sisters and brothers. We have lost aunts and uncles. We have lost husbands and wives. Losing a friend can be just as hard. Especially if that one has been there for you through thick and thin. So folks never take those positive influences for granted. (Proverbs 18:24)

Social Media and Suicide

When I was younger I did not know I was a victim of bullying until now. Even to this day, I still carry a scar both emotionally and physically. Now, there is such things as cyberbullying. Wow, is this damaging and if not caught can lead to suicide. I am not a parent but I see and read the effects of this type of bullying. I hope parents get a wake up call and really monitor what their kids put on social networking websites. If I was damaged by one, I can not imaging the effects when you are…

Tips for Asking a Stand-in To Deliver a Eulogy You've Written

My father is in hospice, and my family assumes that I will give one of the eulogies at his funeral. I have no trouble writing it. But I'm terrified of delivering it myself. Public speaking is not one of my talents. My dad and I are very close, and I'm sure I'll break down and cry. Is it acceptable to ask someone else to read the eulogy I compose?…

No Cancer Is a Good Cancer

A young woman shared with friends and family that her mother was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She became frustrated when many of them told her “At least your mom got a good cancer.” While it is true that thyroid cancer has a very high survival rate, the young woman wondered, “How can any cancer be good?” In the months ahead, the young woman watched helplessly as her vital…

78 days

this is how long its been since I have been able to speak with the man of my dreams. I cant help but wonder how I get any better when everything in my life good or bad was discussed with him. we never went a day in 16 years that we didn't speak and now every day and night I spend in tears. I almost wish he wasn't so great so I could have something to look back at and be angry with but he was a perfect human being. now going trough his thing and packing myself up to move out of state in 6…

Blog Post: Get Over It Before It's Too Late

Today, I was thinking about two movies I watched. One was about a girl who was biracial (mom was black and dad was white). She was ashamed of being black and treated her mother badly. When her mother died, she cried worst than the other people and said "MOM I AM SO SORRY".... The other movie involved a couple who had a terrible fight and then the husband died in a car accident. The wife had a nervous breakdown and blame herself.... A valuable lesson that teaches us that peace is so vital .…

Regaining Control in Difficult Times

When illness, death, or another of life’s crises strikes, most of us crave normalcy; we want to once again feel in charge of our lives. What do you do when life feels like it is spinning out of control?

My family knows that in times of difficulty one of the first things I do is load the washing machine. The very act of washing the clothes, folding them, and placing…

Personal Blog- Death Culture

TV programs  was revised to protect young people from seeing material that might affect them adversely. The result has been counterproductive. So much violence on TV! ..Sadly, some parents have become passive on what they allow their children to watch on TV. Then, they wonder why their kids are so violent in school.  Many kids play violent video games that kill people. This was definiely not part of God's plan for us. I am looking forward to the time when God will make all things new and rid…

Q. In the last year or so, a divorced acquaintance told me, "Divorce is just as devastating as the death of your husband." Another said, "Divorce is worse." The remarks came from out of the blue. I felt…

I lost my sister in December 2014 after a heartbreaking decline in her health battles with heart disease and alcoholism - she was 57.  I feel as though I lost her twice - when she began her mental spiral a few years ago and then physically. It was also exacerbated by abuse from a codependent person in her life.   I've never been part of a support group and am not sure what to do here, or how much or little to share, or really how I this can help me or others.  I just know that I could use a…

Just in Case

I haven't logged onto this site for a while but Heatha was kind enough to send me a nice note in hopes I'm doing alright.

I really appreciate that.

And the answer is I'm doing okay : )

I will check in here from time to time to at least view from the sidelines (modus cottidianus) but I'm at a point where I want to…
