I Remember

I Remember

I remember a day, a long time ago, I fell in love with someone you know.

Her name was Virginia, she captured my heart, we married, and vowed

that we’d never part.

We raised our children and gave them all love, and taught them to

adore our God up above.

I remember the day we got the bad news, something that none of

us could ever refuse.

I know, now, that she knew all along…but acted as though…

Getting Better

Getting Better

I’m getting better at getting on with my life,

But it’s not easy since I lost  my wife.

I’m getting better at getting along, until I hear

an old sad song, then I start wondering…

What went wrong?

I’m getting better at writing a poem,

But not with the fact of being alone.

I just thank God that I’m getting better

at getting better.

In Quiet Time

In Quiet Time

In quiet time before I sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep.

A little prayer I learned as a tot,

And as I’ve grown older have not forgot.

I have a new prayer in mind,

But, the words are hard to find.

I’ll admit, I’ve been remiss, and

Then I remembered back to…

Talk to Someone

Talk to Someone

My friend and I just had a chat, about nothing at all just this and that.

Would it have helped for her to know that my mind was about to blow?

With all the feelings pent-up inside she couldn’t see what I tried to hide.

Who could have known or who would have guessed that I was so damned

depressed?

I could  laugh and put on a smile, but hurt down inside all the while.

But sometimes it helps to…

After I Cry

Sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t and sometimes I never know why, but, I

always feel better after I cry. If I listen to a sad song, I might shed a tear…not

knowing if it is the tune, Or the words that I hear. Or, I might watch a move that tears

at my heart when all of the sudden the tear drops start. Hardly a day ever goes by

that something stupid doesn’t  make me cry. I watch the News Show and someone

dies that I don’t even know, the tears flow. A bird…

Despair

DESPAIR

A lonely old man just sits in his chair wondering…

What am I doing here?

He has no ambition and he’s got no drive,

just what is it that keeps him alive?

To write down an idea or maybe a thought,

and think to himself….Is this all I’ve got?

I Had a Dream

I had a dream last night, I dreamt of someone dead. And, when I woke this morning, it was still there in my head. Then I tried to return to sleep, wanting to dream on. But, like my love one who had passed on, the dream I had was forever gone.
