The story behind The Widows Walk Ministry

I was widowed in 1997, at the age of 42 with three children ages 8, 11, and 14. By the grace of God, we have survived and learned many things along our journey.

In sharing my stories, I hope to help others who are dealing with grief in their lives. This ministry began when I met a woman who was grieving the recent death of her mother. She began telling her story and as I listened, I felt my soul being drawn toward a familiar place. She asked if I would meet her to walk and to talk about her grief and loneliness. I thought, “Certainly none of us should have walk alone through grief without some emotional support.”

One of the best sources of grief support that I have found through the years is a non-denominational, faith-based program called GriefShare. For the past 3 years, I have had the privilege of facilitating groups in Florida and Tennessee. There is a short write-up about the most recent group's graduation dinner on The Widows Walk Ministry blog on Legacy.com. This group will encourage you!

The Widows Walk Ministry also has a blog about stories I've written that will soon be published in a collection of stories about people who have lost friends and loved ones through death. These stories are written to encourage others who are dealing with grief. If you would like to share your story with me, please contact me! This is the link to The Widows Walk Ministry stories.

No one should have to go through the journey of grief alone, so please contact me on one of these sites, read the stories, and hear how others have survived the grief process. It isn't easy and it takes work, but it is never impossible when you have someone praying for you and walking along side you!
