Aiming high vs. knowing your limits.

I was a senior in high school when both my twin brother and my dad passed away. In my head I thought this wouldn't affect how I would preform in school. I was taking 3 A.P. classes and balancing a job as well. Winter trimester I did drop A.P calc, anyone balancing 3 A.P classes and a job would be struggling right?. Spring trimester I accomplished striat A's with exception to a C in A.P Physics. This whole ignoring the fact that I had lost two close family members was seemingly working ok.

I moved for the summer and started a new almost full time job. In the fall I went back to my hometown  and started school at the most expensive school in the state. I wound up sleeping when ever I was not in class and had to withdraw from winter quarter. After taking time off, I returned to school spring quarter and finnished the school year succesfully.

When I look back I wish I would have taken care of myself right away;taken a lighter school load and started college at a less prestgeous more affordable school. It was important for me to have a schedule and keep some activitys, but looking back I think my fog would have started to fade away a lot sooner if I had taken time for myself. Yes being a firts year college student a lot of the decisions I make now will significantly impact my life in the long run, but no my life does not have to be perfect. Plenty of people start off at public universitys and community college. I found that it is important for me to slow down, take time for myself and enjoy life.
