One year ago my husband died. I thought I was doing well, until yesterday.

Dear Jeff,

I am so sorry that you are having to experience the pain we all share here after losing our spouses. Indeed, sometimes we think we are doing well until something - anything - triggers our grief to take over. For me, especially during the first year after losing my husband Larry, these moments of being ambushed by my emotions upset me greatly, and I had a few of those while in public places.

I see you have joined the group Bereaved Spouses, and I truly hope that you will find some comfort there as I have more times than I can count. Share as much or little as is comfortable for you, but be assured that just as I was accepted with unconditional support and understanding, so will you be.

Wishing you peace as you find your way along this often frightening and confusing path of grieving, and please take comfort in knowing that you needn't travel that path alone - we all will walk it with you.

With love,

Chuck
